Community Councils – get involved in your local community!
Newhaven is part of a network of “Community Councils”, where local people get involved in a wide range of local activities. Community Councils are officially recognised by the City Council and the Scottish Executive, and are consulted on a wide range of local issues. Local councillors, MSP, and MP frequently take part in these meetings as well.
Community Councils are made up of a combination of people elected from the local community, along with representatives of local community organisations. However, most community councils are normally happy to have any local resident attend and speak at their meetings on an issue of concern to them.
