A village steeped in history

Newhaven, nestling between the ports of Leith and Granton, is one of Edinburgh's coastal villages which were absorbed into Metropolitan Edinburgh in 1920 as part of a 33 square mile expansion. It has a fishing tradition of at least 5 centuries. The ancient 'Armada' Stone inscribed '1588' can be seen in the village, set into a gable wall, although it has been moved more than once as buildings have been replaced with new ones.
